i believe the only new instrument officially recognized as having been created in the 20th century was the steel pan (drum), and it came from the fisherman wharves of trinidad and tobago … probably from kobo town, really …
well, those trinis keep on innovatin’ mahn … at least these coolios from toronto (by way of port-of-spain) do.
